This is the main Ballacolla Village to Rathdowney road.
An 18 year old male pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a car shortly after 2am.
Investigating Gardaí are asking anyone who may have seen a male pedestrian wearing a light coloured hoodie or a red Honda Civic near the scene of this collision immediately prior to it happening, or shortly afterwards, to contact them.
The deceased has been named as Kevin Bergin of Middlemount, Rathdowney, Co. Laois.
