An 80 year old female pedestrian has been killed in a road traffic collision at Little Island, Owenahincha, Rosscarbery, Co. Cork at 12.30 a.m on the 29th of December 2008.
The woman was struck by a car as she crossed the road, she was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem examination will be carried out later today.
The driver of the car, a man in his twenties, was not injured.
A full Garda investigation in underway and the scene of the crash is sealed off pending an examination of the area by Garda forensic collision investigators.
