On Sunday 10/8/08 the Tullamore Agricultural and National Livestock Show takes place on the grounds of Charleville Castle
On Sunday the 10th of August the Tullamore Agricultural and National Livestock Show takes place on the grounds of Charleville Castle.
This event attracts upwards of 50,000 visitors each year.
The Showground is located on the outskirts of Tullamore on the N.52 – Tullamore to Birr Road. Tullamore Gardai wish to advise motorists that delays in the area can be expected and that Diversions will be in place.
For people attending the show there is adequate parking available along all routes and adjacent to the Showgrounds.
Motorists are advised of the following arrangements:-
NORTHERN TRAFFIC - (Kilbegggan, N.52, Clara, N.80 etc.) will be diverted via the Ring Road to various car parks adjacent to the Showgrounds.
SOUTHERN TRAFFIC - (Portlaoise, Mountmellick, N.80 Direction) will be diverted at Killeigh Village towards the Showgrounds, where they will use the Kinnitty Road Car Park.
WESTERN TRAFFIC - (From Birr N.52 Direction) will be accommodated in a car park at the Mucklagh side of the Showgrounds.
A periodic one-way traffic system will operate between the Showgrounds and the Town at peak times in the morning and the evening. This will result in delays.
Motorists, Residents etc., are asked to co-operate with the Gardai and Show Stewards.
No Parking will be permitted on the Diversion Routes or Roads in the precinct of the Showgrounds.
FOR MOTORISTS NOT ATTENDING THE SHOW
In addition, the following alternative routes are available to passing motorists, not attending the show and in order to avoid delays these motorists are advised to follow the signed diversion:-
Traffic from the Birr direction, can divert at Blueball for (A) Tullamore and all Northern and Western Routes, via Rahan and (B) Portlaoise and all Eastern Routes via Killeigh.
Motorists travelling to Birr and all Southern, Western and Northern Routes from Portlaoise direction can divert at Killeigh to Blueball.
Motorists travelling from Kilbeggan and Clara Directions should use Ferbane for Birr and Southern Route and via Portarlington for all Eastern Routes.
