Gardai at Kilkenny wish to advise the general public that due to severe weather conditions in the area, an elevated risk of flooding in all rural and urban areas is likely both tonight (16/8/08) and tomorrow Sunday (17/8/08).
Several roads throughout the county remain closed due to flooding. Accordingly, motorists are advised to travel with extreme caution and to observe any directions or signage regarding road closures and diversions.
Where homes are at risk of flooding or where public safety is at risk the following numbers are to be used in and emergency: 112 or 999. When ringing these numbers callers are requested to give full particulars and accurate addresses of the incident.
Those travelling through Kilkenny to the All Ireland Hurling Semi final in Croke Park tomorrow are advised to check their routes and to allow sufficient time to make their journey safely.
