Gardai at Galway Garda station are investigating what is believed to be a fatal hit and run traffic collision.
The body of a man in his 60's was discovered at Drumgriffin, Corandulla, Co Galway at 8.50 a.m. on the 3rd of August 2008. He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem examination will be carried out by the Deputy State pathologist this afternoon at University College Hospital Galway.
A female in her 30's has been arrested in relation to the incident and is detained at Galway Garda Station. Garda would like anybody who was on the Lough George to Corandulla road beween 1a.m. and 9a.m. to contact them on 091 538000.
Gardai would also like to speak to the female occupants of a BMW car which stopped at the scene of the crash and contacted who emergency services.
The road at the scene of the crash is closed while a forensic examination of the crash site is carried out.
