Gardai from Pearse Street Drugs unit carried out a search of a house on Sean McDermot Street this morning 20th August 2008 at approximately 11.30am. In the course of the search a hand-gun and 10 rounds of ammunition, what is believed to be heroin with a street value of €100,000 (pending analysis), €40,000 worth of valium tablets and €45,000 in cash was seized.
Two males (one in his late 20's and one in his mid teens) were arrested at the house and are currently being detained in Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug trafficking Act.
A follow-up search was carried out at a house in Balbriggan shortly after 3.00pm. In the course of the search what is believed to be heroin valued at €300,000 (pending analysis), approximately €20,000 worth of valium tablets, some drug paraphernalia and €3,000 in cash were seized.
A third man in his late 20's was arrested and is in custody in Pearse Street Garda Station, detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
