On the morning of the 7/8/08 a co-ordinated intelligence driven search operation controlled by Gardaí at Castlerea took place at 3 separate locations Castlerea, Co. Roscommon; Strokestown, Co. Roscommon and Drumlish, Co. Longford.
The three people who were being detained at Roscommon, Boyle and Longford Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act (Previous release 944/08 below refers) are due to appear in Carrick-on-Shannon District Court at 8.30pm this evening charged in relation to the incident.

Early this morning a co-ordinated intelligence driven search operation controlled by Gardaí at Castlerea took place at 3 separate locations:- Lisacul, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon; Strokestown, Co. Roscommon and Drumlish, Co. Longford.
These searches arose out of an investigation that continued after a cannabis plant cultivation factory was discovered in Castlerea in April 2008. As a result of these searches a cannabis growing factory was discovered at each location.
At Lisacul cannabis plants and dried cannabis herb with a street value of €84,000 was seized and a man was arrested.
At Strokestown cannabis plants and dried cannabis herb with a street value of €147, 000 was seized and a man was arrested.
At Drumlish cannabis plants and dried cannabis herb with a street value of €287,000 was seized and a female was arrested.
All values are subject to an analysis of the substances and plants seized and the 3 prisoners are detained at Roscommon, Boyle and Longford Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
These searches were co-ordinated by Gardaí at Castlerea who were assisted in the searches by Gardaí at Roscommon and Longford as well as members from The Garda National Drugs Unit and The Garda National Immigration Bureau. An incident room has been set up at Castlerea Garda Station.
