Gardai have seized a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine as part of operation targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Cork area.
As part of operation targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Cork area Gardai have seized a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine.
On the 3rd of April 2008 at 7.35pm Gardai stopped a van at Strawhall Fermoy, Co Cork.
When the van was searched a kilo of what is believed to be cocaine was discovered.
The cocaine subject to analysis may have a street value of of up to €70,000.
The driver of the van, an Irish man in his 40's, was arrested and is detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Fermoy Garda Station.
During a follow up search at a flat in Mitchelstown a further 2 kilos of cocaine was seized, this may be valued at up to €140,000.
The investigation is ongoing and any update will be reported.
