Background:
Declan Roe, born on 23rd August, 1962, came from Killaderry, Daingain, Co. Offaly. He joined An Garda Síochána on 7th September, 1983, and on completion of training was allocated to Carrickmacross Garda Station, Co. Monaghan on 10th February, 1984. He also served at Kingscourt and Monaghan. Garda Roe was married. He took a keen interest in football.

Circumstances:

At 3.50am on 13th July, 1992, Garda Roe was driving an official patrol car on the main Waterford/New Ross road and travelling in the direction of New Ross, when the official car was involved in a collision. Garda Roe was removed to Ardkeen Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries a short time later.
