Renewed Appeal: Fatal Road Traffic Incident, Carnalogue, Co. Louth, 22nd January 2024

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for information in relation to a fatal road traffic incident that occurred at Carnalogue in County Louth during the early hours of Monday morning, 22nd January 2024.

The incident occurred at approximately 1.50am when a van collided with a tree. A passenger in the van, a woman aged in her 20s, received fatal injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second passenger, a man in his 20s, continues to receive treatment at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for injuries which are not life-threatening.

A technical examination of the scene was completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who were travelling in the vicinity of Carnalogue, between Louth village and Channonrock, between 12am midnight and 3am on Monday morning, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
