Focus Ireland Triathlon - Dun Laoghaire Harbour.

On Sunday, the 1st of August 2010 between 6am and 1.30pm

Dun Laoghaire Harbour will host the Focus Ireland Triathlon on Sunday, the 1st of August 2010. 

This is the fifth year of the event and the first year it’s being held in Dun Laoghaire. It is envisaged that there will be approximately 200 participants.

The event is being organised by Focus Ireland and is a charity event.  The event it self carters for individual and team participants and interested parties should contact Focus Ireland Head office Phone No 01 8815900.


Road closures:

To ensure the safety of participants marshals and other road users a number of road closures will be in operation. 

To minimise disruption the swim and the run sections will take place within the confines of the harbour. 

To facilitate the cycle the following area, which forms a loop will be subject to road closures -
Queens’s Road from the harbour onto Crofton Road,

the Old Dun Leary Road, Seapoint Avenue out to Newtown Avenue and to Temple Hill Junction returning via Monkstown Road following along onto Monkstown Crescent,

continuing on to junction of Georges Street Lower, York Road to rejoin with the Old Dun Leary Road. 

The road closure is expected to be in place between 7.45 am and 10am on Sunday 1st of August 2010.


Parking:

Competitors have parking available on the Carlisle Pier and supporters will have access to the Pavilion Car Park along with on street car parking throughout Dun Laoghaire. Further parking on the East Pier is restricted by the equipment for the event.

All persons attending this event are reminded to secure their vehicle, place all items out of sight and secure their properties.

All participants are requested to  be at the registration points for 7.15am in Dun Laoghaire Harbour.  As movement of all road users is restricted, motorists and pedestrian are requested to take care and follow the directions of Gardai and Marshals at the event. 

 The co-operation of residents and road users is essential to ensure the safe smooth running of this event and any persons in this vicinity are requested to make their plans bearing this event in mind.
